Welcome

The Computational Modeling Lab conducts theoretical research and carries out applied research work on the development, adoption and management of innovative applications via mathematical models and simulations, that will lead to the formulation and promotion of an attractive and competitive growth environment of modern Greek society and the scientific community.
Research activities supported by the Laboratory of Computational Modeling focus on a wide range of computer science with an emphasis on developing mathematical and computational techniques for modeling and simulation of physical (parallel and distributed) systems. Specifically , the aim of these activities is both the discretization of physical laws and the foundation of distinct geometries for the numerical description of physical systems in a compatible way  (keeping the basic symmetries) and for the simulation and understanding of critical phenomena especially in relation to complex and dynamic networks and evolutionary processes taking place in them.

The fields of current research interest in the Laboratory of Computational Modeling in the Department of Informatics of the Ionian University focus on the following thematic units:

  • Designing and Analysis of Algorithms
  • Development of computational applications for non-local, non-linear dynamic systems
  • Signal Processing
  • Development of computational applications for random systems
  • Development of computational applications for bio-systems
  • Bioinformatics Algorithms
  • Computational grids
  • Artificial Intelligence - Genetic Algorithms
  • Autonomous networks, performance analysis and scalability issues
  • Mathematical Software towards Education
  • Ethics and Legal aspects in applied science
