BEST Project - Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Transnational Project. Biodiversity is essential for life on Earth, but it is under threat from exploitation, pollution, climate change, and invasive species. To address this, the European Commission’s Biodiversity Strategy 2020-2030 aims to reverse ecosystem degradation. The BEST project contributes to these goals by protecting natural and cultural heritage, restoring habitats, and involving local communities in cross-border activities through innovative, low-impact technologies. Target Groups: Public administrations, businesses, research institutes, universities, farmers, fishermen, environmentalists, small tourist agencies, and citizens. Expected Results: Cross-border map of high nature value farmlands (WEB GIS). Development of smart tools for biodiversity monitoring. Creation of eco-friendly parks offering “biodiversity tours.” Cross-border monitoring protocol for high-value agricultural areas. DNA archive of local botanical species. Expansion of protected areas. Public education with a focus on schools.
